On the recommendation of Police Chief Brad Burns, the Florence Mayor and Board authorized sending Officer Tanner McCue to a four-week "Crimes Against Children Certified Investigator" course scheduled to start in April 2026 at the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy in Pearl, Mississippi.
Alderman Brent Sistrunk moved the training authorization, Alderman Brian Grantham seconded, and the motion "to send Officer Tanner McCue to Crimes Against Children Certified Investigator (4) week course starting April, 2026 at MS Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy in Pearl, MS and for the city to pay the registration fee of $1,300.00 and all related cost as allowed by state law" carried by unanimous vote. The motion states the city will cover allowable related costs consistent with state law; the minutes do not specify the funding account.
