No directive to recover funds or change existing agreements was made during the meeting; instead the court instructed staff to return with clearer accounting and to consider assigning oversight responsibilities to expand emergency-management coverage.
"I had no idea that flat volunteer fire department is now getting $67,250 taxpayer money," a commissioner said while urging further review. The court agreed additional transparency and oversight mechanisms were appropriate.
