"I would propose that we get on a 4 year plan to eliminate that contribution to the employee child, employee spouse, employee family," Judge Miller said, proposing a phased reduction so employee-only coverage moves toward full county funding first. Staff reported the county's premiums were projected to rise by about $400,000 overall for the coming year and walked commissioners through enrollment counts and plan options.
Commissioners and staff discussed a range of scenarios, including a 50/50 county/employee split on some plans and selecting different tiers (low vs. high plans). Staff said they would produce clear spreadsheets showing enrollment by tier and the dollar impact of proposed contribution changes so the court could finalize a recommended FY2025 position on benefits.
