Commissioners consider $5,000 raises for lieutenant-level sheriff staff

Judge Miller told the court the sheriff's office had requested raises and that, based on prior practice, the court had proposed a $5,000 increase for lieutenant-level positions and above.
"So it'll be, chief deputy, lieutenant, jail administrator. All of those would be a $5,000 increase," Judge Miller said. Commissioners acknowledged it as a recurring priority and said they would look first to available funds for such increases.
No formal vote occurred during the workshop; commissioners asked staff to include the sheriff's request in the payroll impact analyses to determine whether the increases could be accommodated in the FY2025 proposal.
