Oglesby ISD superintendent urges Commissioners Court to back community safety resources

Shane Webb, superintendent for Oglesby ISD, addressed the Coryell County Commissioners Court during the public forum to press for more local safety and response resources in the Oglesby area, saying the school district was willing to partner with the county.
“1st off, my name is Shane Webb. I'm the superintendent for Oglesby ISD,” Webb said, adding that the district and community are growing and that response times on county roads have been slow. Webb described recent major wrecks on area highways and urged the court to consider locating resources where response times are long.
Webb offered school facilities as part of a partnership to support any county-run resource, saying, “we're even willing to get into whatever kind of partnership that the commissioners, would maybe be comfortable with, where if, you know, where we could we could house them. We could house them at the school... providing phone, Internet, whatever whatever that may be, furniture.”
Judge Miller thanked Webb for the comment; commissioners did not take action during the meeting but asked staff to continue factoring community needs into the FY2025 budget discussions. The court did not schedule follow-up in the meeting record beyond suggesting staff collaboration and modeling of related costs.
