Leslie Irvin was elected vice chair of the Calvert County Student Safety and Well-Being Advisory Committee after a nomination and brief confirmation on the floor.
A committee member nominated Irvin, citing her experience as a parent and educator. Irvin accepted, saying it would be an "honor and a privilege" and that was the reason she had applied to serve. Members moved to elect her, a second was heard and the committee approved the election by voice vote.
Chair thanked Irvin and noted the vice chair will be part of a small group charged to draft a recommended vision statement ahead of the committeemeeting in December.
