The Calvert County Student Safety and Well-Being Advisory Committee approved a concise mission statement Monday, moving the group from organizational setup into early planning work.
Staff read the shortened language: “The mission of the Calvert Student Safety and Well-being Advisory Committee is to enhance the safety, security, and overall well-being of students and staff within CCPS.” Committee members debated length and phrasing before adopting the shorter version by voice vote. Member Emily (staff) told the group that minutes and broadcasts will be part of the public record and that the committee will solicit language suggestions ahead of a formal adoption in December.
Members agreed the mission statement will guide five work phases the committee outlined—formation, issue identification and data sourcing, issuing a data assessment, defining measurable short- and long-term goals, and producing recommendations and a final report. Chair (the meeting lead) said staff will compile amendments and urged members to submit proposed vision language for a small committee to reconcile before the December meeting.
