Lone Star Park will kick off its 2026 thoroughbred season Thursday, April 16, with evening races and a slate of promotional events to attract attendees, Rodney Nelson said on the city's program.
"Our opening day for the 2026 thoroughbred season is gonna be on Thursday, April 16 this year," said Rodney Nelson, a Lone Star Park representative. He said the first 1,200 guests through the gates will receive a free Lone Star Park T-shirt; opening-weekend highlights include an Elvis tribute artist and a dollar-day on April 18 where admission, hot dogs, programs and some beverages are offered for $1.
Nelson also said novelty races on April 25-26 will include camels, ostriches and zebras. He described fireworks shows choreographed to music for July 3 and 4 as among the season's larger attractions and said racing and family activities will continue across the season.
