Grand Prairie Farmers Market opens April 4 with mayor-led 5K, 70+ vendors

The Grand Prairie Farmers Market will reopen for its 14th–15th season on Saturday, April 4, operating each Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. through the Saturday before Thanksgiving, host Georgia Clemson said on the city's public program.
Chip Namey, a farmers-market organizer, said the first day will feature a mayor-led 5K as part of Get Fit GP and a health fair. "For that 1st Saturday, we have 70 plus vendors signed up," Namey said, adding that the market will include fresh produce, homemade baked goods, soaps and candles, and arts and crafts.
Namey said vendors and health-focused booths will open at 8 a.m., with the walk and run starting at 9 a.m. He encouraged visitors to arrive early for the grand opening and noted that many long-term vendors have been with the market for a decade or more. "I just want you to find one thing that you just fall in love with each time you come to the Farmers Market," he said.
The host and guest reminded listeners the market is a downtown staple and invited residents to attend the opening and regular-season markets.
