Commission members discussed current vacancies on the Community Multicultural Commission and how those vacancies affect quorum. Staff said the board has 11 seats currently and that the quorum formula (0.5 plus 1) results in a quorum of seven; members noted recent cancellations caused by last-minute absences and the effect of vacancies on meeting continuity.
The commission also reviewed upcoming events and volunteer assignments — district town halls, school board meetings, youth council, cleanup events and a subcommittee retreat scheduled in April — and assigned volunteers to specific items. Chair (speaker 2) asked commissioners to submit availability and requested staff add reappointment and vacancy items to a future agenda so the commission can consider candidate nominations or appointment timing.
