Bob Duckworth spoke during the public comment period identifying himself and his Garland address and urging the committee to use audit findings to follow up more aggressively. He said his banking and compliance background makes him "very interested in audits" and that he has reviewed past audit reports.
"I think we're underutilizing those assets," Duckworth said, citing city-owned utilities and golf courses as examples the city could better leverage to increase revenue while stressing he did not want the city to "overcharge other people." He encouraged a stronger compliance or follow-up arm to ensure audit recommendations are implemented.
Chair Moore thanked Duckworth for his remarks and the committee moved to the auditor presentations.
