DART warns paratransit access would end for withdrawing cities

Corey, a DART staff member, told residents that paratransit is a federally mandated service but that access tied to a withdrawing city would stop immediately after the canvass of that city's election. "If a city withdraws, DART paratransit services for that city will end the day, after that city's election is canvassed," he said during a presentation on service changes.
The meeting laid out the timeline for public input: community meetings will continue through the end of March and the DART Board of Directors has called a public hearing for March 24. Staff emphasized they are presenting information and cannot campaign on how people should vote. They also noted some service details are not yet fully quantified: "What is unknown is a full scope of the secondary financial and service implications" if cities withdraw, staff said, and DART will keep riders informed and provide follow-up data on specific metrics when available.
