County directs staff to begin outreach for 2025 Compensation Review Board

Ashley Staples Reed (speaker 26) explained the board's duties: reviewing salary set by law for elected county officials, examining state and local laws and procedures, and making recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners by Dec. 1, 2025. "Section 9 dash 4 0 5 of the public local laws of Calvert County indicates that the compensation review board will consist of 7 members," she said, and detailed appointing authorities including the county, legislative delegation, political party central committees, Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Commission.
Commissioners approved a motion directing staff to begin outreach to those entities to identify appointees and return to the board to appoint the county's two members once others are named. Staff said the board's fiscal recommendations (increases or decreases) would be subject to legislative approval and could affect compensation only after statutory processes were followed.
