Huber Heights announces yard beautification winners; commission to present awards to city council

Sarah Forsyth read the winners and addresses: the Marigold award to 6077 Lay Cross; the historical award to 6617 Chambersburg; large business to 7505 Taylorsville (Sulphur Grove Church); red, white and beautiful to 6000 Charles Gate; small business to 6182 Chambersburg (B-Side Coffee); pollinator friendly to 7141 Somerville; and the gorgeous green to 8731 Christi Gate. "The Marigold award will go to 6077 Lay Cross," Forsyth announced as the commission confirmed the tally.
Commissioners discussed ties in some categories, reprinted signage and whether to withhold categories with unclear nominations; they voted to confirm the list and asked Forsyth to coordinate awards and invitations to the Aug. 10 city council meeting, pending council approval. The commission also approved the June 30 minutes by motion and voice vote before adjourning the public portion of the meeting.
