"We have 3 opportunities for signature initiatives," the chair said, urging focus and planning rather than immediate votes.
Commissioner Robert (speaker 9) described a larger-scale proposal that could require two years of development and asked the body to allow longer lead time if they want a multi-year signature event. Mason Hutton (speaker 7) volunteered to champion the Bradford pear program and to integrate it with yard beautification and Arbor Day events. The commission requested that volunteers return to the August meeting with budgets, timing and staffing plans in time for the September budget cycle.
