Resident proposes art walk; commission asks Chamber meeting to explore partnership

During the public comment portion, resident Jay Hartman proposed an art walk that would use lobbies at city buildings, churches, police and fire stations and the senior center as rotating exhibit spaces to bring residents into civic spaces.
"I love to take pictures... an art walk at different buildings," Hartman said, telling the commission he had spoken with Mason Hutton of the Chamber and would be willing to coordinate. Commissioners asked clarifying questions about whether art would be for display only or sold; Hartman said sales could be handled separately with contact information on pieces.
Commission member Cheryl moved that "Jake meet with Mason at the Chamber and come back with his thoughts on the project," a motion that was seconded, called and carried with a voice vote. The commission asked Jay and staff to continue coordinating with the Chamber and to return with more concrete logistics and potential budgets at the next meeting.
The art-walk idea dovetails with other commission initiatives, including extending the existing art show into a traveling program and possibly linking winners to library displays or festivals. No final funding decision was made at the meeting.
