Commission proposes annual ethics training, candidate forums and clearer qualifications for boards

"The other thing, though, that we wanted to talk about that needs to be done is implementing ethics training annually for council," Stewart said, adding that boards and commissions should also receive training so members understand applicable rules.
She also recommended clarifying qualifications for applicants to boards and commissions so prospective members understand whether they meet requirements before applying. Commissioners said these items are "low-hanging fruit" the council could address administratively or by ordinance.
Council and commission agreed training and clarified qualifications should follow any ordinance revisions and be part of an implementation rollout once changes are adopted.
