The commission took up a proposal to appoint a permanent chair and possible co-chair after the previous chair's resignation.
Staff explained that the previous chair had resigned and that until a vote is held the interim leader (Chair Florina Sabella) would continue. Commissioners expressed a preference to wait until the commission is closer to full strength (three vacancies remain) so new members can participate in the leadership decision. One commissioner said they would likely nominate or accept nomination for chair once the commission is fuller; others commended Sabella's leadership and supported deferring a permanent appointment.
No vote was held and the commission recorded "no action taken" on appointing a chair or co-chair; the item will return when more commissioners are appointed.
