Councilmembers discussed leasing the 2025 Tahoe for police use versus purchasing the vehicle outright during the Police, Fire & Ambulance Committee update. Mayor Rich Luedke said he favors leasing so capital funds are not exhausted, and Police Chief Brandon Leschke said leasing "is an option since capital only goes so far" and that he would explore loans and other options.
The council directed Chief Leschke to research all procurement alternatives and tabled the item until July for further discussion. The item will return after staff gather comparative costs for leasing, loan financing, and a cash purchase.
