Hutto Pride vice president outlines plans after successful fundraiser, offers partnership

"We just had our first Hutto Pride fundraiser this last Saturday at Rockabilly Brewing, and we raised just the right amount of money to kick start and hit the ground running to do a Hutto Pride celebration this year," Catherine said. She said the event was family friendly, highlighted local small businesses such as Rockabilly Brewing and Bell's Barbecue, and that the group is exploring dates in September or October.
Catherine offered to serve as a contact for the commission and encouraged commissioners to spread the word about public meetings. She said Hutto Pride is updating its social-media presence and is eager to partner on outreach that helps marginalized residents feel welcome and connected to local businesses.
The commission thanked Catherine for attending during the public-comment period and noted the meeting provided a useful example of the listening-post approach the commission plans to use in its outreach work.
