Energy committee schedules Feb. 24 follow-up after questions on MERP bids

The Newbury Energy Committee said it will meet again on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 6:30 p.m. to review bidders' responses before recommending a contractor to the select board. Tom Kidder moved and David Tardiff seconded the motion to warn the follow-up meeting, and the minutes record that the motion passed with "All approved."
Committee members said they lacked sufficient information after their initial review of two RFP responses for the MERP (Municipal Energy Resilience Project) for the Newbury Town Office. Susan Culp summarized outstanding questions and told members she would pursue clarifications with both bidders: "Susan will follow up with Graves on the above 3 items." The committee recorded that Susan and Evangeline James would follow up on budget reallocation questions as well.
The follow-up meeting is timed to allow the committee to review written clarifications and make a recommendation to the select board at its Feb. 25 meeting. The committee's minutes identify the key areas requiring bidder responses: second-floor structural scope and window work, HVAC inclusion, and the effect of removing rooftop solar from one proposal on overall pricing.
