Chair moves to hire Waco for Oak Lane, Spruce Cabin paving

The Chair called a special meeting to open paving bids and moved to hire Waco to pave Oak Lane and Spruce Cabin Road for $189,630.09, contingent on Todd reviewing the documents for completeness and accuracy. "Gonna make a motion to hire Waco to pave Oak Lane and Spruce Cabin Road at a 189,630 and 9¢, contingent on Todd reviewing it for completeness and accuracy," the Chair said.

The Chair had read proposals from four firms earlier in the meeting — Waco; Bracalante Construction; Northeast Site Contractors; and Barker and Barker Paving and Excavating — and discussed multiple scope options (full-length and shortened segments of Oak Lane and Spruce Cabin). The Chair summarized combined totals for the Oak Lane/Spruce Cabin package and said the low bidder and county's prior contractor, Waco, offered the most favorable price and a track record of past work. "They made it easy because they've done a great job for us, and they're the cheapest," the Chair said during the bid comparison.

After brief discussion and a voice vote prompted by the Chair, the motion passed by voice vote.
