The Calvert County Planning Commission held a public hearing on Nov. 20, 2024, on a comprehensive update to the county's zoning ordinance and related text amendments to town center master plans and the comprehensive plan. Planning staff said the November 2024 draft reorganizes articles, updates density rules, creates new industrial districts and adds community benefit agreements to the ordinance.
Rachel Leche, zoning planner, told the commission the draft was posted Nov. 1, 2024, with an earlier August 2024 draft available for public comment through Sept. 27; staff reported three agencies and six individuals had submitted feedback as of Nov. 8. Will Hager, county planner, walked commissioners through the map changes, new districts and specific use changes. The board scheduled a BOCC public hearing for Dec. 17; the commission subsequently voted to keep the public hearing record open for another 30 days to allow more input before final action.
