Administrator David Schaeffer recommended removing the Recycle Center area from the market. The board authorized Chair Kohn Fisher to execute documentation terminating the ReMax real-estate agreement so the county could evaluate other uses for the parcel.
The board also approved a smaller proposal with consultant RRS, not to exceed $9,965, to complete an EGLE-required Materials Management Work Plan before the September 30, 2025 deadline and to ensure compliance with recent changes to Public Act 115. Commissioner Jeff Sieting said the RRS fee was lower than other proposals and moved that the chair sign the proposal.
The county will pause market activities for the parcel and complete the EGLE-required plan to determine whether the site will remain a drop site or be repurposed. Administration noted further information and public meetings may be required before any final decisions are made.
