Vernon County launches redesigned website and .gov domain

Connor, the county staff member leading the project, introduced the redesigned county website and the new .gov domain during the board meeting, saying the effort was "a year long project in the making" and that residents can now find services at vernoncountywi.gov. He walked supervisors through the site navigation, the ‘how do I’ guidance, a curated search bar and a new calendar with separate event and meeting tabs.

Connor said the redesign emphasizes accessibility features — a language selector, an accessibility widget with high-contrast and text enlargement options, and a reset for accessibility settings — and highlighted an eNotify sign-up that will email or text subscribers when agendas, minutes or recordings are posted. "When any materials on the county, agenda and minutes and repositories sites are posted, you'll get an email stating, like, county board of supervisors' agenda was posted," he said.

The presentation included a demonstration of the calendar and department navigation, and a brief Q&A from supervisors about printing and calendar display. Connor advised residents to clear browser cache after the domain change and explained that county-issued email addresses have been migrated to the new domain. The rollout is already live and staff encouraged supervisors and residents to test the site and enroll in eNotify for committee- or topic-specific alerts.
