Students earn STEM honors; board approves journalism convention trip
Summary
Board recognized two students for STEM excellence and approved high school media students to attend the Journalism Educators Association national convention April 16–19 in Minneapolis.
Dr. Mahailey Albain presented Certificates of Merit from Michigan Technological University’s Society of Women Engineers to high-school students Grace Albright and Zayla Brown for excellence in STEM and outstanding performance in math and science.
Separately, Alison Drougel, English educator and media club advisor, requested and received board approval for high-school media students and approved staff to attend the Journalism Educators Association Spring National High School Students Convention April 16–19 in Minneapolis. The board approved the overnight trip by motion; the minutes record the motion passed 5-0.
The recognitions and travel approval were part of the meeting’s student-focused agenda items and highlight extracurricular engagement in STEM and media.
