Anderson said the mapping features increased the monthly cost and that departments were informed first-year service would be free but subsequent monthly fees would be charged and pooled into an annual payment.
"He paid for that, thankfully, because that would have been a $10,000 line item out of my budget," Anderson said of the sheriff's contribution of a radio, while adding that the ongoing monthly fee would be spread among departments and he expected it to be reimbursable through state program accounting.
