Clerk flags election mail costs, barcode tracking and new automation software in budget discussion

"If we had people calling and saying they weren't getting their ballots...I would definitely say, hey, we need to do this," Presenter (clerk) (S8) said of ballot tracking; she recommended not budgeting the $10,000 barcode expense unless tracking demand increases.
S8 also described a proposed automation-fund purchase of a new vital-records program through a vendor (Fiddler) to enable electronic filing of statements of economic interest and digital liquor-license records; the item is budgeted as a one-time implementation fee followed by annual licensing.
