Hillsboro housing activity continues as Traill County housing study nears completion

Traill County Economic Development staff and board members reported continuing housing activity in Hillsboro and potential projects in Mayville.
Executive Director Jim Murphy said dirt is moving at Hillsboro’s Riverwalk addition and that three homes are being built. Cassie Braaten and MPEDC reported Phase 2 of Riverwood is under development with one street and 14 lots; local builders are using much of the remaining lot inventory. The minutes also note a Hatton EDC spec house closing this week.
A housing study draft is expected to be ready by the next EDC meeting. Murphy highlighted that Traill County’s average family income was about $2,000 lower than Cass County and about $2,000 higher than Grand Forks County in the draft figures; the study will be reviewed at a subsequent meeting.
