E911 director to pursue encrypted radios, search under way for Fire/EMS notification upgrade

Mike Machen, 911 Director, told the Manistee County E911 Board on Feb. 18 that he plans to schedule a Technology Committee meeting to pursue purchasing radios that support encryption. He also updated the board on the financial audit and said staff have begun searching for options to upgrade the Fire/EMS notification system.
Machen presented these items as part of his routine Director's Report; no purchase order or contract was approved at the meeting. The Technology Committee meeting will be scheduled to evaluate specifications and procurement options before the board considers any purchase or budget request.
