Traill County approves burn ban during Red Flag Warnings through Nov. 1, 2026

Traill County commissioners voted April 21 to implement a county burn ban to take effect during Red Flag Warnings through Nov. 1, 2026.
Sheriff Steve Hunt told the commission there were no current flooding issues but that concerns about open burning had arisen. He asked the commission to "implement a burn ban to be in effect during Red Flag Warnings through November 1, 2026." Commissioners Amb and Young seconded and carried the motion; the ban takes effect upon the commission chair's signature.
The action is administratively local and applies countywide whenever the National Weather Service or local fire officials issue Red Flag Warnings. The commission recorded the approval as a formal motion during the meeting.
