Commission approves county participation in Cooperative Wildlife Protection Plan

Box Elder County approved Agreement 26-21 to participate in the state's Cooperative Wildlife Protection Plan (CWPP).
Kevin Lloyd, the county fire marshal, explained the county's participation would support fuel-break construction, purchase of new brush trucks and water trucks, and deployment of wardens and fire engines in affected areas. Lloyd said the state's program enables the county to acquire new equipment and staff support: "This is the participation amount participation commitment from with the state, for our the CWPP, the Cooperative Wildlife Protection Plan," he told commissioners. Commissioners asked how the agreement would affect residents in remote areas and approved the participation commitment on a motion from Commissioner Perry.
County staff noted the CWPP complements previously approved planning work; the signed participation commitment will be forwarded to the state with supporting documents.
