Board approves personnel slate, temporary physician rates and student accident coverage

The Carmel Central School District board approved a slate of instructional and noninstructional personnel recommended by the superintendent and accepted temporary rates for school-physician services while an RFP process continues.
Staff said the RFP for physician services was advertised roughly two weeks earlier and that one response has been returned so far; the administration expects to bring an appointment recommendation to the August meeting. "The RFP is out...so far, we have 1 interested party and 1 RFP returned," the district business official said.
The board also approved a student accident policy for the 2026–27 school year at a cost of $34,800 and a student accident catastrophic policy at $4,002.10. Business officer Mr. Silver said the combined package is about $38,000, roughly $10,000 less than prior coverage, and that the district moved to a new broker to improve responsiveness. "This will be very different as this is through Brown and Brown," he said.
Separately the board waived any potential conflict of interest so the district may execute a contract with Dutchess Community College in the form presented. All motions noted in open session carried by voice vote.
