Hillary Venable, a project area director for the Military Installation Development Authority (MIDA), told the Box Elder County Commission that the proposed Stratus project area covers roughly 40,000 acres in unincorporated county land and is planned as a data‑center campus supporting AI and cloud computing.
“MIDA, Military Installation Development Authority, was created by legislation in 2007,” Venable said, outlining the authority’s military and economic development mission. She said the Utah site, at full build‑out, is planned to support up to “7.5 to 8 gigawatts of power.” Venable also told commissioners the total development could produce about 4,000 temporary construction jobs and roughly 2,000 permanent jobs over roughly a 10‑year build‑out period.
Venable and Austin Pritchett said the developer has committed to initial infrastructure prepayments and estimated phase‑one revenue and full build‑out revenue figures that they presented to the commission.
