Richland 2 gives "gift of time" to staff at centennial convocation

Maria Owens, the district's director of strategic partnerships and emcee, led a series of prize drawings throughout the convocation and described the awards as tokens of appreciation for employees. "We're giving the gift of time," Owens said, announcing that ten employees would each receive 0.5 day off with supervisor approval.
Winners announced during the program included Saul Rivera, Eartha May Hughes, Victory Armstrong, Yolanda Haley, Erica Grooms, Shatiya Dorsey, Rosmia Alakwad, Jennifer Pounder, Zindy Frick and Rhonda Williams. Owens also named Lakenya Middleton as the recipient of lunch with Superintendent Dr. Kim Moore and identified Michelle Grama and Carlos Alston as winners of Belk gift baskets.
Owens reminded staff that the half-day awards require supervisor consent for scheduling and said prize pickup arrangements would be coordinated for employees not present at the Performing Arts Center.
