The Franklin County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution to increase the vehicle title fee administered by the Clerk of Courts from $18 to $23, effective Sept. 1, 2026. Rich Sims, director of Auto Title for the Clerk of Courts, said the increase is authorized by House Bill 96 and is intended to sustain the certificate of title administration fund amid rising costs.
Sims described expense pressures since the last fee increase in July 2009, including a nearly 82% rise in overall expenses and a 134% increase in materials and services. "The new title fee in Franklin County would be $23," he said, and staff requested approval of resolution 50426 to enact the change.
