The presenter told council the FY27 combined budget across the city's more than 40 funds totals $540,200,000 and does not propose a property tax increase; fee adjustments are proposed in several service areas. Staff said key investments include public safety technology and facilities, utility and transportation infrastructure, and parks and trails supported by a 2023 voter‑approved GO bond.
Council also considered a dais adjustment proposed by staff: temporarily removing three requested police positions from the FY27 recommendation, with the possibility of revisiting those positions in January based on sales tax performance. The council voted to tentatively adopt the budget and to set public hearings for June 4 and June 18; final adoption is scheduled for June 18 following the second public hearing.
