The Board of Logan County Commissioners approved a Certificate of Authority to establish the Uribe Private Cemetery after a brief public hearing on May 29, 2026. Arthur Uribe testified that his grandmother wished to be buried on family property and said it "is important to his family that they be close to her." The board required the burial site be at least 90 feet from the centerline of Pennsylvania Avenue.
Commissioner Mark Sharpton moved to approve the certificate and Commissioner Monty Piearcy seconded; the motion passed unanimously with Piearcy-AYE, Sharpton-AYE and Coffman-AYE. The public hearing had no other speakers and was closed at 9:03 a.m. The certificate will be issued provided the setback requirement is met.
