The Kay County Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved an interlocal agreement with the City of Ponca City to apply FY2025 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) funds toward equipment purchases. District Attorney Brian Hermanson reviewed the agreement and said that "while the wording was not exactly as he would have drafted it, he approved the agreement." Sheriff Steve Kelley told the board the funds would not be received until the following year.
The agreement was approved by motion and recorded as carried with all three commissioners voting aye. The DA indicated the agreement was acceptable "as to form," and the record shows the county expects procurement to occur after grant funds are received next fiscal year.
