Commissioners add Bridge #1100 on Cache Road to CIRB 5-year plan to improve safety

Chairman Johnny Owens and the Board of Comanche County Commissioners voted March 2 to add Bridge #1100 on Cache Road over Armstrong Creek to the county’s CIRB 5-year plan.
Commissioner Ryan John said the work will “straighten out this bridge to make it safer” and noted the district has a grant for soil erosion remediation on the south side of the west bank that relates to the same project. Commissioner Josh Powers moved to assign the CIRB project to District 1; the motion was seconded and approved with Powers, John and Owens voting aye.
The board did not set a construction date during the meeting. Including the bridge on the CIRB 5-year plan makes the project eligible for County Bridge Rehabilitation and Improvement funding and, according to commissioners’ comments, should speed the timeline when combined with the soil erosion grant. Next procedural steps are the usual plan scheduling and any required engineering or grant-administration follow-up by county highway staff.
