Nobles County approves mutual aid agreement with Redwood County

Nobles County commissioners approved a mutual aid agreement with Redwood County on May 20 to address temporary staffing shortages in law enforcement.
Under the agreement, neighboring counties may provide temporary law enforcement assistance at no charge; officers would remain employees of their home counties but be under the direction of the local sheriff when deployed. The agreement was drafted by Nobles County Attorney Braden Hoefert and Redwood County Attorney Shannon Ness and has approval from Redwood County’s board.
The motion to approve the mutual aid agreement was made by Commissioner Robert S. Demuth and seconded by Commissioner Chris Dybevick; the minutes record the approval as duly passed.
