Cass County Sheriff Bryan Welk presented Life Saving Awards to Nancy Zamago and Kristina Pierce at the May 5 Board meeting for their actions on March 3, 2026, when both women performed CPR on a man who collapsed while fueling at the Remer Junction Cenex.
Welk told the Board that the women called 911 and immediately began CPR, which he said saved a life. "This is exactly what we hope for in our communities," Welk said, "not just awareness, but action." The Board and attendees joined the Sheriff in thanking Nancy Zamago and Kristina Pierce for their courage and community commitment.
