County CFO outlines $9 million bonding estimate for Pine River transfer station; public hearing set for CIP

Chief Financial Officer Becky Toso presented the preliminary 2026 Capital Improvement Plan on May 5 and highlighted a proposed funding approach for the Pine River Transfer Station project. She said the remodel is postponed to 2029, the county anticipates approximately $9,000,000 in bonding to cover the project's estimated cost, and a proposed increase to the 2026 solid waste assessment is expected to yield about $600,000 per year to reserve for the project.
Toso also said levy dollars would be proposed to increase from $900,000 to $927,000 to account for inflation. The Board voted to establish a public hearing for adoption of the 2026 CIP at the June 2, 2026 regular meeting in Walker. No bonding authorization or final funding decisions were taken on May 5; the hearing will allow further public input and a final budget decision later.
