An interim town engineer and the building department reviewed the site and found the wall scope had grown and that adjacent steel stairs were no longer compliant with current codes.
The board discussed using mitigation funds to avoid delaying repairs until town meeting. "So basically it almost doubled in size the actual scope of work that's being done," the project mover said, explaining why the additional authorization was needed. The motion passed unanimously, and staff said the additional funding would allow the recreation department to complete the project this construction season.
