The Huachuca City Council authorized staff to prepare amendments to the town’s animal code and unanimously approved a separate motion authorizing a letter stating the town’s support for a proposed Cochise County animal shelter in Huachuca City. Chief Berry explained that removing certain obsolete code provisions would make it easier to work with the county if the county places a shelter in town.
Town Manager Suzanne Harvey said collaboration with Cochise County would benefit the town and the council voted to authorize submission of a support letter. The motions were moved by Johann Wallace and seconded by Christy Hirshberg and both passed unanimously; the minutes do not record the text of the letter or a timetable for the county project.
