Two residents used the public-comment period at the Jan. 8 Huachuca City Council meeting to press the town for a safer crossing at the Circle K on Gonzales Boulevard. Resident Lonnie Brock said the crosswalk lights are not visible to drivers and called for a safer installation. Resident Tami Ackerson reported that her daughter was hit while using the crosswalk properly and urged the council to act.
Mayor Johann R. Wallace later said local television outlets KOLD and KGUN9 had brought attention to the crossing and that a meeting with the Arizona Department of Transportation is expected next week to discuss possible fixes. The council did not vote on an immediate remedy during the meeting.
