Laurie Searle, a volunteer with historic preservation interests, urged care in any agreement and asked the council to treat existing collections as city property unless negotiated otherwise: "I would like the city to consider that it is their property," she said. The council deferred the MOU to give the Historic Commission more time to pursue grant options and review terms.
The council unanimously approved Item 24‑056 to prohibit the use of electronic detection devices in city parks, and approved Item 24‑057 supporting a $25,917 Georgia Council for the Arts Cultural Facilities Grant (50% local match). The council also approved Item 24‑058 authorizing the Trust for Public Land to submit Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Program grant applications under state auspices. Staff said these grant actions would support facility and stewardship projects if awarded.
