WCIDA committee recommends removing COVID-era hazard-mitigation performance measure

The Wayne County Industrial Development Agency (WCIDA) Governance Committee recommended on Feb. 24, 2026, that the board remove the hazard-mitigation goal and related performance measure from the agency’s formal metrics. Deputy Director Katie Bronson told the committee the only measure added in 2025 was an IDA housing measure and that the hazard-mitigation item had been established during the COVID period and may no longer be necessary. The committee approved the June 2025 minutes earlier in the meeting (Mr. VanFleet moved; Ms. McDonald seconded).
Committee members discussed how the agency currently tracks engagement. Bronson said individual inquiries are not tracked, though attendance for specific events — including SCORE workshops for the annual pitch competition, the real estate breakfast, and Small Business Week events — is recorded. The committee agreed the hazard-mitigation measure should be removed and made a recommendation to the full board to that effect. The WCIDA meeting was adjourned at 8:32 A.M.; the next governance meeting will be scheduled as needed in 2026.
