IT director warns Public Safety campus lacks cellphone service, seeks carrier and grant solutions

Ury said switch installations are continuing and the department is working to implement NeoGov and OpenGov, but those operational improvements do not address the cellular coverage gap. He said previously installed booster equipment is no longer effective and that he has been meeting with Verizon and AT&T about options including a potential mini cell tower. "Another meeting with Verizon is scheduled for next week," the minutes record. The IT Department also plans to apply for grant funding to help pay for infrastructure if carriers do not provide sufficient assistance.
The committee approved an unrelated personnel transmittal for the IT department — setting the hourly rate for a Desktop Installation Helper — by a 5‑0 vote. The minutes do not report a timetable or estimated cost for any cellular solution; Mr. Ury’s next steps are carrier negotiations and a grant application.
