Parks board reviews staffing, irrigation and field maintenance ahead of summer season

Kent, Bill and Jayson reported on seasonal hiring: Jordan S. returned May 12, Jacob Danielson returned for a two‑week assignment and two additional student workers will start after school ends.
The board reviewed field maintenance issues identified during a pre‑meeting walk‑through: sprinkler heads require adjustment after Rain Master service, fields need additional Shakopee sand in places, rolling is required to smooth turf and hills, and the soccer field water was programmed to run nightly at 10 p.m. The board discussed flattening a large dirt pile, possible additional parking by mowing (not pursued because of sugar sand), and adding 1–2 paths through trees to improve access from parking areas. Members also discussed installing a phone pole to block an entrance used by ATVs and requested more “No Pets allowed” signage (noting enforcement would require Village patrols).
Next steps: Kent will follow up with Rain Master on sprinkler head adjustments; Bill will schedule additional rolling; the board will consider volunteers or contractors for dirt removal and paths.
